Stephen Colbert attempts to reignite Cold War

It seems like funny man Stephen Colbert is taking a break from poking fun at Canada, and who can blame him when Russia provides so much material?

Last night the Colbert Report turned its sights on reigniting a little fire known as the Cold War.

An outraged Colbert took a shot at Russian figure skater Evgeni Plushenko, whose “crybaby” antics after losing to American Evan Lysacek have made him an easy target for comedians like Colbert.

It turns out that winning silver wasn’t good enough for Plushenko, who did just about everything short of grabbing the gold medal off Lysacek’s neck at the medal ceremony—including listing his medal win in Vancouver as a “platinum” medal on his Web Site.

Stephen Colbert wasn’t about to let the Russians win in a “made-up medal gap”, and decreed Lysacek’s medal as the “Unoptainium”.

After a few more jokes at the expense of figure skater Johnny Weir and his “fabulous” costume choices, Colbert headed to the Richmond Oval to do what he came to Vancouver for: To motivate the U.S. speed skating team to dominate the competition.

He suited up as the assistant team psychologist for a few pep talks with men’s 500-metre speed skater Mitch Witmore and women’s 500-metre Lauren Cholewinski. Sadly, the underwhelming exchange between them was good for less than a few laughs.

A more engaging Tucker Fredricks from the men’s 500-metre team helped save the segment as he dished it out to Colbert in a funny bit about the important role his ass will play in winning him the coveted gold medal.

The Colbert Report has just one more show featuring on-the-scene Olympic content before he returns to his usual targets: whiny, ineffectual liberals and the sheep-like masses who support them.

Wait, you think Colbert's target is liberals? You really don't get it? That's pretty funny.
