HootSuite releases Android version of Twitter app

Users of Android-powered smartphones can now use HootSuite to manage multiple Twitter accounts and schedule tweets.

Developed by Vancouver-based Invoke Media, the Twitter application is now available in both free and $1.99 versions for Android and iPhone.

The paid versions allow users to work with an unlimited number of Twitter accounts, while the free versions can handle up to three.

Today (March 2), the HootSuite blog also announced that version 1.2 of the iPhone app, which is “just around the corner”, will add Facebook integration and landscape view.

HootSuite originally launched in November 2008 as BrightKit, a free Web-based Twitter client.

Invoke is cited as an example of “Small Business Success in B.C.” in the Ministry of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development’s service plan for 2010-11 to 2012-13.
