North Vancouver skier Lauren Woolstencroft wins second Paralympic gold medal

North Vancouver resident Lauren Woolstencroft has skied to her second gold medal of the 2010 Games.

North Vancouver’s Lauren Woolstencroft has won her second gold medal of the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

Today (March 17) at Whistler Creekside, the 28-year-old alpine skier raced to victory in the women’s standing giant slalom.

Andrea Rothfuss of Germany ended up with the silver medal.

Petra Smarzova of Slovakia came away with the bronze.

Vancouver’s Karolina Wisniewska placed fourth in the event.

On March 15, Woolstencroft won a gold medal in the women’s standing slalom.

Woolstencroft is a 28-year-old electrical engineer who was named the International Paralympic Committee’s athlete of the year in 2006.
