Emily Carr University of Art and Design plans to develop its own iPhone application.

ReCite will be a movement- and location-aware app highlighting the work of local cultural producers, including Emily Carr faculty and students.

“This application will provide a meaningful way for the public to engage with cultural content outside of a gallery setting, and within the context of their lives,” Maria Lantin, director of Intersections Digital Studios at Emily Carr, said in a press release today (March 30).

A project of Emily Carr’s Social + Interactive Media Centre, the app is being developed with Vancouver-based Lat49 Media.

It's expected to be released in September.
