Dig out your Goodbye Yellow Brick Road LPs: Elton John is headed to B.C.

I never actually bought Goodbye Yellow Brick Road when it was released as a double album in 1973—maybe because I was too engrossed in that year's other monumental four-sider, Quadrophenia—but I remember feeling tempted. I particularly enjoyed the boogie vibe of "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" and thought "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" was a melodic masterpiece. But overall it was a little too wimpy for me to want to blow the last of my lawnmowing money on.

Millions disagreed, of course, which is why Sir Elton is one of the top-selling artists ever, with more than 250-million records sold. If you're one of those fans who will gladly hoist your copy of GYBR and wave it around like you just don't care, then it could be time for a summer road trip.

The Rocket Man will be performing with his band—which includes longtime guitarist Davey Johnstone and drummer Nigel Olsson—on Saturday, July 17, at Prospera Place in Kelowna. And for those hardcore followers who would do anything to see their idol—like drive all the way to Prince George!—he'll be playing there at the CN Centre the previous day.

Tix for both shows are priced at $149.50 and $89.50 and go on sale this Friday (April 23) at livenation.com/.
