Open Web advocate Chris Messina and information-technology researcher Bryan Alexander will give the keynote presentations at the 2010 Northern Voice conference.

The personal blogging and social media conference will take place on May 7 and 8 at the University of British Columbia’s Point Grey campus.

Messina works at Google, sits on the boards of the OpenID and Open Web foundations, and helped create BarCamp. He lives in San Francisco.

(A year ago, Messina shared his thoughts on microformats and the Semantic Web with the Straight.)

Alexander is the director of research at the Texas-based National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education. The Vermont resident studies advanced uses of information technology for learning.

Tickets for Northern Voice are still available. Friday or Saturday admission is $50. A ticket for both days costs $90.

In addition to a full slate of speakers, this year’s event will include a nonprofit expo, which will feature local charities that use social media.
