Social Media Club Vancouver to hold panel discussion offering tips for business

In January, Vancouver got its own chapter of Social Media Club.

Started in San Francisco in 2006, SMC is an international group whose goal is to “promote media literacy, promote standard technologies, encourage ethical behavior and share best practices”, according to its Web site.

On Thursday (May 27), Social Media Club Vancouver will hold its second event.

The Social Media 101 panel discussion will feature presentations by Guacira Naves, Tris Hussey, and Kemp Edmonds.

Naves, an on-line marketing strategist, will talk about social-media strategy. Hussey, a social-media consultant, is set to present on using Twitter for business. Edmonds, a digital-marketing and social-media strategist, plans to address metrics.

The panel will take place at Building Opportunities With Business (163 East Pender Street). Registration costs $15 on Eventbrite.

SMCYVR’s first event in March looked at the impact of social media on the Olympics.
