Who won the most awards at the Leo Celebration Awards at the Westin Bayshore tonight? Go ask Alice.
The TV mini-series, which ran in the feature-length drama category, won five awards this evening. (Tonight's gala consisted of technical categories in the first of two nights of Leo Award ceremonies.)

Alice won best production design, best sound editing, best overall sound, best picture editing, and best visual effects.
The intriguing Victorian-era short film “The Gray Matter”, about an aging pianist who begins to face the reasons why he stopped performing music, followed with four awards: best costume design, best production design, best sound editing, and best overall sound (all in the short drama categories).
The sci-fi series Sanctuary also picked up four awards: best costume design, best make-up, best production design, and best direction (all for the dramatic series categories).
The documentary Facing Ali, about Muhammad Ali as seen through the eyes of his opponents, won three. In addition to best cinematography and best picture editing, Pete McCormack won best direction in a documentary program or series.
Wolf Canyon also garnered three accolades: best direction, best cinematography, and best picture editing (all in the music, comedy, or variety program or series categories).
The best director award went to Bruce Sweeney for Excited, about a man struggling with premature ejaculation.
The best costume design award went to Monique Prudhomme, who has been nominated for an Oscar for the same category, for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. She talked about how her role was the kind that any costume designer would dream of having, due to the freedom that she was given.
The evening was hosted by the entertaining and humourous Ellie Harvey, who riffed on becoming a mother. Presenters included Dawn Chubai, Amanda Tapping (Sanctuary), Lara Gilchrist, Alisen Down, Johnathan Silver Scott and Drew Scott, and Ben Cotton (Stargate Atlantis).
The awards for best acting as well as best picture categories will be given out tomorrow (Saturday, June 5) at the Gala Awards Ceremony, which will include appearances by numerous stars, who will also walk down the red carpet.
