Anti-HST petition campaign enters final month

With four weeks left to canvass, anti-harmonized sales tax campaigners are nearing their goal of collecting signatures from 15 percent of voters in every B.C. riding.

Today (June 7), Fight HST campaign organizers announced that they have met that target in all but five of the 85 electoral districts in the province and, in the process, have gathered more than 620,000 names on their petition.

“We are extremely pleased and will work hard to complete our internal threshold of 15 percent in the remaining ridings next week,” spokesperson Chris Delaney said in a statement.

Under provincial legislation, signatures from 10 percent of registered voters in each riding are required for the citizen-initiative to succeed.

With the public outcry and the results of the petition Cambell should delay implementation of the HST until this process is completed. He should listen to the people of BC, as should his MLAs.

Not only should they delay then rescind the legislation, Gordo and the whole cabinet should resign and hold another election now. It's evident that 80%+ of the people of BC hold this government in contempt. There could be no better or louder vote of no confidence than the anti-hst petition. I urge everyone to write or email gordo and his henchmen to resign and call an election!

Consider this. Harper is spending 1 billion for a 4 day party in Ontario for 'security' for democratic leaders (this ought to increase the value of the PM'King's office in people's eyes) VS. ONLY 1.6 billion to 'buy off' 4 million British Columbians.

Campbell boasted he was able to keep the HST down from 13% to 12% saving British Columbians $800 million -- the inference being that we are still paying nearly 10 billion -- and the money we get from the feds (but not neutral to our jeans) is 1.6 billion.

Absolutely unequivocal evidence that Gordon Campbell and his BC Liberals do not give a shit about you and me (what was Harper thinking?)

How strong a message are we going to send to both of these boys?

It's not just the Liberals and Conservatives..... all the politicians in this country force these taxes on the people. We are NEVER heard or listened to! GST was implemented the same way. Wake up Canada, it's a cash grab!! And for God's sakes do not let this fool you into voting NDP, can't you think back a few years. BC was a dead province, no businesses starting up, no jobs. What we need here is a Conservative government to kick some butt!!

No thanks, I have seen what Conservatives have done to this country under Harper, they are not fiscally responsible as people think, just look at how much Harper has increased the debt!

Good Luck !!!!!, the government doesn't really care about the anti HST campaign. They will stonewall long enough until it is all forgotten.
They need the money for bloated salaries, useless civil servants ,to pay off the unions and will stop at nothing.
