The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at the Arts Club Theatre Granville Island Stage

The treats that await you at The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee are too much fun to reveal here, but suffice to say that when the hit musical comedy opens at the Arts Club Theatre Granville Island Stage on Wednesday (June 23), you’ll be part of the audience for the titular event, right in there with the cast of overbearing parents cheering on their overachieving kids. It speaks to its wonky charm that Putnam County, by William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin, is the little show that could: first staged in 2004 in a Massachusetts school cafeteria turned theatre, it went on to play Off-Broadway and Broadway, finally earning some Tony Awards and being produced around the world. The musical just closed at Victoria’s Belfry Theatre where it just enjoyed the longest run of any show in that venue’s history. The show ends July 31, so we’ll spell it out for you: G-E-T Y-O-U-R T-I-C-K-E-T-S N-O-W.

As a season ticket holder I'd have to say this is perhaps the funniest and most entertaining show I have seen in a long time. Love it and going again.
