I delivered many of these appliances when I was still in school - and university---Herb Doman's apartment buildings - no elevators - my father would drop all of the appliances - they all had to be put in those apartments-- 'way it goes'.
My father's best friend (who died 2 days after my dad) - was a government worker in management. His family was 9 like ours.
We were far better off (not rich). When I scored the highest mark in the city on a government exam - I was offered a job in '75 for $450.00 a month.
I asked my dad if he thought I ought to join the 'walking dead' --- my dad was staunch Social Credit -- loved -- just loved --WAC -- introduced me to him when I was 6 on the BC Ferries -- "Glennie boy - THIS is a great man."
"Don't go into government son - there's no money in it."
