In wake of antenna woes, iPhone 4 lands in Canada

The iPhone 4 has finally arrived in Canada.

This release today (July 30) of the latest version of Apple’s touchscreen smartphone follows widespread criticism of its antenna since its U.S. launch on June 24.

Apple is now offering a free bumper or case to people who buy an iPhone 4 before September 30.

At its physical and on-line stores, Apple is selling the smartphone unlocked for $659 (16 gigabytes) and $779 (32 gigabytes).

Telus is selling the iPhone 4 for $649 (16 GB) and $749 (32 GB) with no contract. With a three-year contract, the smartphone is available for $159 (16 GB) and $269 (32 GB).

Rogers is also retailing the iPhone 4 for $159 (16 GB) and $269 (32 GB) with a three-year term.

The iPhone 4 can be purchased from Bell for $159.95 (16 GB) and $269.95 (32 GB) with a three-year commitment.

The smartphone features video calling, a five-megapixel camera with LED flash, HD 720p video recording, and multitasking.

It’s only available in black, as manufacturing problems have delayed the arrival of the white version.

On July 12, Consumer Reports said it had confirmed that the iPhone 4 has a reception problem and that it could not recommend the smartphone.

A couple days later, Consumer Reports confirmed that Apple’s bumper fixes the issue.
