Former B.C. premier Bill Vander Zalm plans to announce the findings from the Elections B.C. review of the anti-harmonized sales tax petition this evening (August 11).

Elections B.C. has been reviewing 700,000 petition signatures gathered across the province by opponents of the 12-percent sales tax.

Under provincial legislation, Elections B.C. has until today to determine if the petition is valid.

To meet the requirements of the Recall and Initiative Act, at least 10 percent of voters in each of B.C.’s 85 ridings must have signed the petition.

The petition organizers claim they have met that threshold.

Vander Zalm, the official petition proponent, is set to hold a news conference on the outcome of the Elections B.C. review in downtown Vancouver today at 5:30 p.m.

Elections B.C. has reportedly said it will not publicly announce its findings, leaving the task to Vander Zalm.

If successful, the petition could lead to the introduction of a draft bill in Victoria called the HST Extinguishment Act.

It would be a wasted opportunity and "amateurish" if he did it any time BUT during the evening news.

Almost as amateurish as the Liberal government failing to register as an official opponent to the Anti-HST petition.

Here's something that, up to a few years ago, I thought I'd never hear myself saying.

      Go Zalm Go!

      BOYCOT, BOYCOT, BOYCOT ! ! !

I have previously mentioned that “there is strength in numbers,” and I would urge all of us/you that are being gouged by this “taxation without representation” to continue our fight.
Now that we have had approval from Elections BC (LOL) that this petition is valid, we must carry on so that our wishes/democracy are respected and make this happen even if it means RECALL.

I am sure you realize that our fight is not only with the lying government but those who support this illegal tax – greedy big business ! So let’s consider BOYCOTTING those who insist on including the HST (to line their pockets). I do realize there may be some difficulties with boycotting some items, but if your purchase is not absolutely necessary then allow those greedy business types to take the loss and feel our financial pain ”¦.only then may they rethink their position and listen to the will of the people!
