Vancouver police admit to HST mix-up
Vancouver police have admitted to a mix-up over the B.C. harmonized sales tax.
More than 2,500 people have been “incorrectly” charged HST for fingerprinting and record-check services since July 1, when the tax went into effect, the department revealed today (August 18).
The amounts were either $3 or $8 per service.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” the department says in a news release.
Refund requests can be sent by mail to:
Vancouver Police Department
312 Main Street
Vancouver, B.C.
V6A 2T2
People are asked to include their name, address, phone number, and either their record clearances receipt or the date of visit to police offices.
