Ideomotor responses have been generated in the past

Although I find Hélí¨ne Gauchou’s recent research using a Ouija board highly commendable in demonstrating ideomotor processes to connect with the unconscious mind, this line of work has its predecessors [“Unconscious intelligence”, August 19-26]. Ernest L. Rossi and David B. Cheek have worked extensively with ideomotor responses in therapeutic settings (Mind-Body Therapy: Methods of Ideodynamic Healing in Hypnosis, 1988). Similar ideomotor responses can be elicited using a pendulum or through muscle testing and other methods, thus obviating the need to carry a Ouija board into examinations.

Ronald Rensink at UBC stated his desire to discover evidence for the existence of the collective unconscious. However, a great deal of scientific research has already been conducted by Rupert Sheldrake in this area. In his work on what he calls “morphogenetic fields”, Sheldrake gives ample evidence to demonstrate that Carl Jung was correct, and that there is a consciousness outside ourselves.
