Land-use yammering gets in the way of education
When will Judy Williams’s vapid, pot-induced delusions about UBC land use cease [Letters, August 19-26]? As a former lieutenant in UBC’s land-planning ranks, I never saw so much public consultation, debate, and partisan hoopla over relatively inconsequential land-use planning. It’s time for Judy and her leathery beach kin to move on and quit pretending they have any constituency or jurisdiction over the provincial park known as Wreck Beach.
Their incessant yammering only distracts good educators from doing their job. If it were up to Judy, UBC would still be a backwater university stuck in a farmer’s field (which it once was). Shut it, already.
