Statement by NDP Leader Carole James on the ouster of Bob Simpson from caucus

STATEMENT BY NEW DEMOCRAT LEADER CAROLE JAMES

VICTORIA: New Democrat Leader Carole James issued the following statement today:

"Earlier this evening, I spoke with Bob Simpson, the MLA for Cariboo North, to advise him that he was no longer a member of the NDP caucus.

"The NDP caucus is a team of hardworking British Columbians committed to our work as a strong opposition and focussed on building a pragmatic and progressive alternative to the current government.

"Through his public comments today, Mr. Simpson has made it clear that he would rather criticize our work than contribute to it. He has made it clear that he does not want to be part of our team.

I wish Mr. Simpson well."

Maybe Wayne McGrath and Randy White from the BC Conservatives can make a few secret calls to get Simpson a la Lekstrom...at least this guy doesn't like the HST right?

It is a shame that James didnt see the hypocrisy of kicking simpson out of caucus and encouraging the liberal backbench to speak their mind! She should have used this incident to show she can accept constructive criticism from her caucus. BAD leadership, carol! another example why james is totally ineffective as leader and should do the right thing and resign for the good of her party!!!!

Ms James is listening to the old guard,, the ones that the general public have no time for. If Ms James and the NDP are going to be this stupid they deserve nothing. Another party that has forgotten who they work for. Carole, enjoy the unemployment line, you are so fired.

I am really starting to believe that Carole James is actually working for the Liberals ... and possibley the most well executed political plant into the rival party that has ever been acheived ... or still just the BC Union's puppet .... cuz I actually think the day the Union's have little influence on the NDP is the day they start a separate Union party ... Libs are business ( small benefitting group ) NDP are union/ welfare lovers ( again small benefitting groups ) ... time for a party for the slowly dissapearing middle class ... ans everyone stop funding all these stupid enquiries into everything...

That shot you just heard is the start of the NDP leadership race.

Carole James is to the NDP what Stephane Dion was to the Liberals. At least the Liberals had the good sense to get rid of the ineffective Dion as their leader. James continues to cling on as NDP leader even though her support continues to plummet, to the detriment of her entire party.

I agree her comment was ill advised. But she made it and now must live with it. The door is open now for a leadership review. Here is the opportunity she has created to reform the party and get a leader who will attract their supporters back into the fold. Finally a crack in her armour that can be exploited by the party if they really want to win the next election.
