Chapel Arts gets the Heebeegeebees in October

Local hipsters looking to celebrate Halloween all month long need look no further than Heebeegeebees. The new club event—taking place all October at Chapel Arts (304 Dunlevy Avenue)—is designed by curators Tristan Orchard (No More Strangers) and local artist Ryan Quast to psych Vancouverites with a blend of morbid music and freaked-out visuals.

“The artwork is loosely based on the Halloween concept, and the bands are in the same vein—a bit spooky,” Orchard told the Straight. “Last week, for instance, we had [dubstep artist] Babe Rainbow. If there’s one word to describe his music, it’d be spooky.” Other ooky outfits lined up include uncomfortably agitated punks White Lung (October 14) and scary synth duo Myths (October 21).

There’s another reason to check the night out. Other than the $10 cover for the grand finale featuring Love & Electrik on October 30, sliding-scale admission ensures you’ll have more green to spend on your creepy costume, or even a couple of drinks.
