If Vancouver were pitted against American cities in the same America's category, would we still win?

@Carolyn
We were and we did. The Americas encompasses all of North and South America.

@Dizavin Conde Nast defines the Americas as Canada, Central, and South America. They've got a separate category for the US, which apparently isn't part of "the Americas"

It seems like these destinations were picked by the Napa Valley crowd of travellers. Cape Town tops in Africa?? Come on. Sure, if you go to Africa for sandy beaches and wineries. But, uh, if that's what you want out of your trip to Africa, you're missing something. LIKE YOUR SOUL.
Top city in Africa: Dar Es Salaam!!! I'll take a massive urban spicemarket and sprawling fish market over the picturesque Table Mountain, anyday.

Let's face the facts and be honest with ourselves. With 15 plus gangs in this city, the worse ghetto in Canada, a huge sex trade problem, a huge open drug market, small business taxes that are killing our small businesses, 2000 people or more living on our streets, a rise of 21% in sex assualts against women, 40% of our children living under the poverty line, a horrible human trafficking problem, an Olympic Village debt of $500,000,000 plus,a cost of living that is skyrocketing, a lack of affordable housing, sad gay bashing problems, racism against our native population and other groups and sadly a mayor and council who fiddle and have a let them eat cake attitude and who have no plan to deal with anything but bike lanes,gardens and serving their developer masters, the rating is questionable at best.
Vancouver is a great city if one is wealthy and can afford the amenities and the enjoy the views..
Vancouver is a place where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and the social problems get worse and hope diminishes for many who have to line up at the food bank get food.
Sadly, the hype about this city is allowing us to sweep our serious problems under the carpet.
Let's get real and work together to solve our problems and stop taking the best city crap to heart. First step is to admit we have these serious problems and second put a plan in place to solve them and implement the plan.
