Jackass 3D is full of shit-splattered fun

Johnny Knoxville and his merry band of twisted prankster freaks are back in the third feature-length spinoff of their now-defunct MTV series, with the wonders of 3-D adding to the shit-splattered fun. And I do mean shit-splattered.

Watch the trailer for Jackass 3D.

The stunt that caused the loudest groans of disbelief and revulsion from the audience at the preview screening was the one where Steve-O gets strapped into a feces-filled Porta Potty and bungeed up and down like a salt ’n’ poopa shaker. I’m not saying the performance will win him an Oscar, but it was impressive. He should have tried harder to keep his mouth closed, though.

The inimitable Steve-O—who has shit tattooed on one set of knuckles and fuck on the other—steals the show in Jackass 3D. I laughed the hardest when he and Dave England played tetherball with a bees nest, both getting stung repeatedly. The funniest part comes when Steve-O calls England an idiot for freaking out and causing the bees to sting him even more. Imagine Steve-O calling someone else an idiot. It’s mind-bendingly surreal!

Another memorable segment involves Steve-O collecting the ball sweat of the obese Preston Lacy while he works out on a stair climber, then drinking it from a cup. This, of course, makes Steve-O puke his guts out, which he clearly enjoys doing.

The 3-D effects are pretty good—especially when paint balls and dildos are being shot right at you—but more impressive is the high-def slow motion. When Bam Margera sneaks up behind people and pummels them in the side of the head with a boxing glove, it’s amazing how rubbery their faces can get.

Although Steve-O looks like he can take most of the punishment meted out in Jackass 3D, Knoxville is starting to seem a bit frail, and you’ve gotta wonder how many more charging bulls he should be facing down. One wrong landing on his abused noggin and it could be wheelchair time, although I’m sure that would just lead to reckless quadriplegic stunts in Jackass 4: Crippled for Kicks.

It really does beg the question: what is Steve-O like in the sack?
