Little Dragon at the Fortune Sound Club

Sweden has given us some wonderful things over the years, with the shortlist including IKEA, meatballs, the Sedin twins, and Mr. Peepers’ Amateur Home Videos 35: Swedish Surprise. Mostly, though, it’s given us a lot of great music, from ABBA to the Refused. Add Little Dragon—at the Fortune Sound Club on Tuesday (January 11)—to our list of favourite Swedish exports, the Göteborg trio seemingly on a mission to prove that our favourite Scandinavian country has more to offer than garage bands with Marshall HiWatts. That’s right, where nine out of 10 modern-day acts that called Sweden home seem to worship the Stooges, the electronica-obsessed Little Dragon, featuring the fabulously exotic Yukimi Nagano on vocals, would be better suited to a package tour with Morcheeba, Massive Attack, and Pepe Deluxé. And speaking of Pepe Deluxé, that group is right at the top of our list of favourite things that Finland has given us over the years, other notables being Hanoi Rocks, Jarkko Ruutu, pickled herring, and Monika Star.
