Video: Hosni Mubarak supporters attack pro-democracy protesters in Cairo

Supporters of President Hosni Mubarak's regime have moved to violently suppress the pro-democracy uprising in Egypt.

According to the Guardian, government supporters stormed Cairo's Tahrir Square today (February 2) wielding "clubs, bats, knives and even homemade spears".

"While many had anticipated a move to clear Tahrir Square by the security forces, the use of mob violence, orchestrated by the regime, had not been foreseen," the British newspaper reported.

Al Jazeera said that its correspondents had reported that more than 500 people have been injured in today's clashes.
