83rd annual Oscars, part 8: The King's Speech's Tom Hooper wins best director
Wow! Tom Hooper just won best director for The King's Speech.
I figured, as did the Straight's Ken Eisner, that even though my preference was The King's Speech, this award was going to go to The Social Network's David Fincher based on the awards it has been amassing.
However, Hooper did win the Director's Guild Award for feature film.
The King's Speech has won two awards now, including best original screenplay.
Black Swan has not won any awards thus far, but it's best chance is probably best actress for Natalie Portman. Also, 127 Hours and The Kids Are All Right are also being shut out.
Meanwhile, Toy Story 3 won the best original song for Randy Newman's "We Belong Together".
