Fresh snow, good deals for skiers on B.C. mountains

The longer winter period has meant super spring skiing in many areas of the province. On March 15, the mid-mountain weather centre at West Vancouver’s Cypress Mountain reported another seven centimetres of new snow overnight. Over the previous seven days, there were 64 centimetres. Weather permitting, officials plan to keep Cypress open until April 25. Meanwhile, Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna still has huge amounts of snow, according to senior vice president Michael J. Ballingall, and will stay open until April 11. “If Mom and Dad come, kids [up to 12 years old] ski for free,” Ballingall said. “We have one deal until the end of March: buy a hotel room and ski for free.”
