Acoroners inquest into a deadly blaze on Pandora Street in east Vancouver has been scheduled to start in late November.

“Vancouver Metro Regional Coroner Owen Court and a jury will hear evidence from subpoenaed witnesses in order to determine and make public the facts surrounding these deaths,” reads a B.C. government statement today (March 18).

“The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances in the future.”

In December, Garland McKay, Dwayne Rasmussen and Stephen Yellowquill were killed in the rooming-house fire, which has been blamed on a faulty extension cord.

The inquest is scheduled from November 28 to December 2 in a Burnaby coroners courtroom.

The B.C. Coroners Service does not make findings of legal responsibility.
