Adrian Dix in the lead after first ballot at B.C. NDP leadership assembly

      Results after the first ballot at the B.C. NDP leadership assembly indicate Adrian Dix is in the lead with 7,638 votes.

      Mike Farnworth came in second on the first ballot with 6,979 votes, John Horgan received 4,844 votes and Dana Larsen received 531 votes.

      A second ballot vote is now taking place. The winning candidate needs 9,997 votes.

      Dix's votes included 7,020 cast in an advanced preferential ballot, and 618 on convention day.

      Farnworth's votes included 6,411 cast in advance, and 568 on election day.

      Four hundred and thirty two of Dana Larsen's supporters voted in advance, and 100 cast their ballots today.

      A total of 20,016 votes were cast, which represents 71.3 percent of eligible NDP voters.
