NDP's Jinny Sims wins close fight in Newton-North Delta to unseat Liberal Sukh Dhaliwal

The NDP's Jinny Sims is Newton-North Delta's new representative in Ottawa.

The former British Columbia Teachers' Federation president won a close three-way battle in the riding, defeating Liberal incumbent Sukh Dhaliwal and Conservative candidate Mani Fallon.

With all 213 polls reporting, the preliminary results show Sims captured 15,413 votes (33.4 percent).

Dhaliwal took in 14,510 votes (31.5 percent), and Fallon grabbed 14,434 votes (31.3 percent).

Green candidate Liz Walker garnered 1,520 votes (3.3 percent).

We're in for one hell of a ride with these rightwing, reform, born again christians at the helm. I hope there's some Canada left for us at the next election.
