Magners Irish Cider a bracing warm-weather treat

It’s not all that long a way to Tipperary—you just have to stop by the miscellaneous beer coolers/cider section of your nearby LDB store and pick up a can or three of Magners Irish Cider. “Made in Tipperary”, it says right there on the tall tin. “Serve over ice” it also says, which I think isn’t necessary. Take it nice and chilled from the fridge after an hour or so and you won’t miss the ice cubes—they just dilute the fresh and bracing fruit flavours. Despite the fact the alcohol is listed at only 4.5 percent, it somehow tastes stronger, richer, and less watery than so many domestic ciders. The price for a single tin is $3.24, which is pretty good value; it’d be even better value if they’d stocked it in four- or six-packs. And easier to carry to the beach. It’s new in some of the stores right now. Hope it stays around for when the warm weather really hits.
