There’s an old saying about extended vacations that goes something like this: as romantic as it sounds to go away with a loved one and take endless walks on the beach hand in hand, the reality is that no two people were meant to be together 24 hours a day for extended periods. And how, you might rightly ask, does this apply to indie-pop darlings Jenny and Johnny, who play Venue on Sunday (May 29)? Well, let’s just say the team of Jenny Lewis (of Rilo Kiley fame) and Johnathan Rice (of, um, Johnathan Rice fame) spends a lot of time together, even when they aren’t on the road. When they aren’t making insanely adorable records like I’m Having Fun Now, they’re watching TV together, going to dinner together, doing bong hits together, and sleeping in the same bed together. That’s right, in addition to being a band, Jenny and Johnny are also a couple. At least until their current tour is over, at which point they’ll probably be sick enough of each other’s faces to wonder what the hell they were thinking when they first shacked up.
