Target to take over Zellers, opening 15 stores across B.C. in 2013

The biggest news making its way around B.C. clotheshounds today is that U.S. retail giant Target will be opening stores across Canada, starting in early 2013.

During a news conference in Chicago today (May 26), Target Canada president Tony Fischer announced that 105 Zellers stores across 10 provinces have been selected to be transformed into Target department stores, and in B.C. alone, we will see 13 locations across the province.

In the Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley area, Target stores will open at Oakridge Centre, Metropolis at Metrotown, Coquitlam Centre, Scottsdale Mall, Willowbrook Mall, Power Centre, Haney Place Mall, and Cottonwood Mall. Other locations will include four on Vancouver Island and three in B.C.'s Interior.

The best part about this announcement? Canadian Target stores will be receiving the full bulls-eye effect, which means that we will hopefully be seeing all of the covet-worthy and wallet-friendly designer collaboration lines, such as Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, and Missoni, in stores. Be still my heart.

So, are you pumped? Or mourning the loss of Zellers a little?

      Janet:
That's it, at least for now.
The other Island stores are in Campbell River, Courtenay, and Nanaimo.
