The eighth annual In The House Festival takes the arts back home this weekend (June 3 to 5). Front rooms and backyards in the Commercial Drive neighbourhood will once more be transformed into pocket-sized venues, breaking down the usual separation between artist and audience to create a unique sense of local community. Nineteen shows feature more than 60 Vancouver-based acts across a diversity of genres and disciplines—this year’s kaleidoscopic mix includes world and classical music (with one of the featured acts, Infinitus string trio, shown here), swing, Latin jazz, folk, blues, gospel, contemporary dance, puppetry, cabaret, spoken word, films, children’s entertainment, circus, and flamenco.
