Actor Jay Brazeau is back shaking it on-stage in Hairspray after a stroke scare in May.

The Arts Club Theatre reports he received a standing ovation last night for his first performance in the show since leaving the run on May 12.

In the larger-than-life musical, which runs till July 10, the well-loved stage veteran plays the role of Edna Turnblad until the run ends on July 10.

Actor Andy Toth had stepped into the gender-bending role when Brazeau suffered what was described as a minor stroke.

Brazeau recently received a Sam Payne Lifetime Achievement Award and a best-supporting-actor Leo for his role in the film Fathers and Sons.
