As Gadhafi's sons are arrested, local Libyans celebrate in Vancouver

Things are looking grim for Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi. And that has local Libyans partying on the plaza by the Vancouver Public Library central branch.

I was in the neighbourhood today and took some video of them singing with joy over the looming demise of the man who has terrorized Libyans for four decades.

As Gadhafi clung to power, local Libyans expressed their excitement over his predicament.

Rebels have advanced on the capital of Tripoli. They've also reportedly arrested two of Gadhafi's sons as the dictator's defences seemed to evaporate.

"How can you allow for Tripoli to be burnt, to be destroyed?" Gadhafi said, according to a CBC report.

He also warned that the country would be in the "hands of the imperialists" if the people didn't rally to his side.

But in scenes echoing the Egyptian revolution, there are anti-Gadhafi forces in Tripoli's Green Square, which was the site of pro-Gadhafi demonstrations earlier this year.

It's looking like the end for the Libyan strongman, no small thanks to the bombardment his forces received at the hands of NATO countries.

Seriously, we all know the world's better off without Ghadhafi et fils, but what/who the hell's coming next? All those hoping for some sanity in North Africa, cross your fingers.
