Margot Kidder and fellow Canadian actor Tantoo Cardinal were among dozens arrested today (August 23) in Washington, D.C., protesting a proposed pipeline from the Alberta tar sands to the Texas Gulf Coast.

It was the fourth day of a landmark campaign of civil disobedience against TransCanada Corporation's Keystone XL project.

Kidder, who was born in Yellowknife and now lives in Montana, played Lois Lane in the first four Superman films.

In this clip, Kidder explains why she's willing to put her body in harm's way to stop the pipeline.

The following video explains the Tar Sands Action sit-in going on outside the White House.
