Fringe Fest announces six Pick of the Fringe shows

The Vancouver International Fringe Festival has announced this year’s Pick of the Fringe shows. Six, rather than the usual four, audience favourites were selected this year for additional performances at the Waterfront Theatre:

Grim and Fischer, a masked comedy about an elderly woman facing off against the grim reaper, will run Thursday (September 22) at 9 p.m. and Friday (September 23) at 8:50 p.m.

This is Cancer, Bruce Horak’s cabaret act starring cancer as a charismatic and egotistical pain in the ass will run Saturday (September 24) at 3:15 p.m. and Sunday (September 25) at 8:30 p.m.

The Progressive Polygamists, a satirical comedy set in Bountiful about best friends who share the same husband with three other wives, will run Saturday (September 24) at 5:30 p.m.

Big Shot, Jon Lachlan Stewart’s one-man show about a young boy witnessing a tragedy on the SkyTrain, will run Saturday (September 24) at 9:30 p.m.

Little Orange Man, from Victoria’s SNAFU Dance Theatre, takes the audience’s subconscious on a massive dream experiment. It will run Sunday (September 25) at 4:55 p.m.

Peter ’n’ Chris and the Mystery of the Hungry Heart Motel, a comedy duo embroiled in a murder mystery, will run Sunday (September 25) at 6:55 p.m.

During the Pick of the Fringe shows, the festival is also hosting its Pick Plus four fundraiser performances. These include Chris Gibbs’s motivational speaker turn in Power of Ignorance, on Wednesday (September 21) at 8p.m.; Martin Dockery’s comedic journey to Bethlehem, The Holy Land Experience, on Thursday (September 22) at 7:15; Monster Theatre’s history-based play, The Shakespeare Show, Friday (September 23); and TJ Dawe’s intertwining crappy job stories, The Slipknot, on Saturday (September 24) at 7:15 p.m.
