I can't believe I live in this country mainly because of Harper is running it. I thought the people in this country had better sense than to Elect someone like Harper.

Don't blame the Cops in this specific situation, they are simply doing their jobs, Dick should have had to pay the overtime extra force cost.

It's the Politicians + Rich Neo-Cons who are to blame.

As a taxpayer it's no longer feasible for all that high priced policing for a known war criminal. I wonder if all those doughy old guys and their bimbettes felt just a tad 'stoopid having to hobble and hop around just to get into their spectacle?

Fascism marches on... Wake up, people-- it is not enough that good men recognize evil... they must act.

The Vancouver police are an amateurish group, often caught off guard. I don't think they know what they are doing and it's time to amalgamate them onto one police force, retrain them (because obviously their training was sub standard) and get them new leadership, someone who knows what he's doing.

It would be interesting to hear from anyone in the police force about their feelings on this...it can't feel all that good to be pushing protesters around so that rich assholes can have quality time with a world-class prick...in OUR world-class city! First you get blamed for the Stanley Cup riot, then you have to provide security for fascists! Can't be easy being a cop in the Silly Village by the Sea.

As is not unusual when dealing with the loony left, the story has morphed from Dick Cheney the war criminal coming to Vancouver, to that of a 51-year-old moron being charged with assault.

There were probably a lot of people, including myself, who thought that a demonstration outside of this so-called book club meeting would bring attention to a very worthwhile subject - the foreign policy and human rights disasters perpetrated by the Bush administration, which was headed by Dick Cheney. Instead, the whole message became lost when the demonstrators became abusive and started acting like a bunch of schoolyard bullies. The stupidest move was when that above-mentioned 51-year-old moron choked some poor employee of the club who was just trying to make a living.

      Dumb, dumb, dumb!
