Next Wednesday (October 19) at 7 pm, the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts will be screening the 1926 silent-era classic Faust.

Faust tells the story of an alchemist who, when unable to save his village from a plague, makes a deal with the Devil and sells his soul in return for wisdom and youth. Based upon folklore and Goethe’s classic work, this version of the Faust legend has, in turn, inspired the “Night on Bald Mountain” scene from Disney’s 1940 animated feature Fantasia.

Accompanying the silent film will be the live music of pianist Robert Bruce.
