Photos: Halloween comes two days early on Granville Street

Last night, things were a little Halloween crazy on Granville Street, even though the real celebrations won't take place until tomorrow night.

I was in Vancouver's Entertainment District for much of the afternoon and early evening, and took a few snapshots (see below) to capture some of the ambience.

The last time Halloween fell on a Monday night was in 2005. At that time, club owners along Granville Street were in a great mood because normally, Monday is a bit of a dead zone at cash registers.

But October 31 always gives the industry a Frankenstein-style revival, no matter what day of the week it is. "Economically, for the city, Halloween is much more than just a night of scary masks," club manager David Hawkes told me at the time. "It's a night about making money and keeping the economy rolling."

I bet those realistic looking M4's weren't a welcome sight in the eyes of the police
