Alliance for Arts and Culture looks to the future

By Jessica Werb,

The Alliance for Arts and Culture’s executive director says the organization will be setting a new direction.

“We’re looking at defining, for the alliance’s sake, what our strategic priorities will be coming through an era of change and new issues that were steered very expertly by Amir [Ali Alibhai, the previous executive director],” said Rob Gloor, who joined the alliance on January 1. “We’re readying ourselves for a strengthened focus so that we don’t feel that issues popping up are distracting us from the critical path we have to take.”

The organization’s board is developing a new strategic plan that will be unveiled shortly, he explained.

“Service to the arts community and to our members is very tied to strengthening the collective capacity of the membership, and that means that, at the same time, we’re providing various sorts of localized member services,” he said. “We’re also working on the tools that everyone needs to continue to make the case for the arts in the broader community, and garnering the support—not just in a kind of political discussion—of an entire community, so that the political discussion is well supported.”

Why does the Straight feature so much coverage about this Alliance? They are one of many organizations in Metro. Could you broaden your coverage please? We'd love to hear about and from others working in the community.
