DanceHouse presents contemporary-dance company La La La Human Steps in a performance of Edouard Lock’s New Work at the Centre in Vancouver for the Performing Arts on January 21 and 22, 8 pm.

Taking inspiration from Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Gluck’s Orpheus and Eurydice, Lock combines techniques of classical ballet to create choreography that melds two tragic love stories into a single seamless work. Touching on themes of mortality and fleeting time, the twelve-member dance ensemble’s performance also features the music of Gavin Bryars and Blake Hargreaves as performed live by a four-member ensemble.

Tickets for the show are priced at $68, $61, and $33, and can be found on Ticketmaster.
