Cinema for a Cure raises awareness of cystic fibrosis

On May 5, Denman Cinema (1779 Comox) will host Cinema for a Cure, a fundraising night of film that kicks off Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month.

The first film up is The Power of Two, playing at 6:30 pm. This 2011 documentary follows the journey of twin sisters Anabel Stenzel and Isabel Stenzel Byrnes, both of whom battled cystic fibrosis and survived through double-lung transplants.

The second film up is Foreverland, playing at 9 pm. This 2011 drama tells the story of a young man, suffering from cystic fibrosis, who goes in search of a legendary healing shrine in Mexico.

Tickets for the screenings are $15 for one film, $25 for both, and can be found by going to www.cinemaforacure.com or by calling 604-436-1158. Proceeds support cystic-fibrosis research.
