Neil Young & Crazy Horse release video for new single "Oh Susannah"

Ear of Newt reported a few months back that Neil Young & Crazy Horse were working on a couple of albums, and yesterday the opening track from the upcoming disc Americana was posted on YouTube.

Americana is scheduled for release on June 4 and is composed entirely of versions of classic American folk songs, including "Clementine", "Tom Dooley", "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain", and the choice ditty previewed here, "Oh Susannah".

I'm happy to note that "Oh Susannah" sounds just like vintage Crazy Horse to me. I'm not so happy to note that the banjo-playing dad in the clip gives his kid a smoke just 'cause he dances a nice jig.

Not to be Mr. Know-It-All, but this isn't so much a version of the Stephen Foster song as it is a cover of the Big Three:

And yes, that is Mama Cass Elliott, in the days before the Mamas and the Papas.
