      Touchstone Theatre presents Shelter from the Storm, a new play by local playwright Peter Boychuk, on at the Firehall Arts Centre (280 East Cordova Street) from June 1 to 9.

      Shelter from the Storm explores Canada’s changing relationship with the U.S. during war. The play centres on Rick, a young American man who sought refuge in Canada to escape being drafted during the Vietnam War. However, after Rick meets a traumatized American soldier, he begins to question to meanings of love and loss, courage and cowardice.

      Directed by Katrina Dunn, Shelter from the Storm features set design by Pam Johnson, lighting design by Adrian Muir, sound design by Jeff McMahon, and costume design by Farnaz Khaki-Sadiq.

      Performances to Shelter from the Storm start at 8 p.m. nightly, with 2 p.m. matinees on June 2, 3, and 9, and a 1 p.m. matinee on June 6. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the Firehall Arts Centre box office, by phone at 604-689-0926, and online.
