For the first time in company history, American Apparel is featuring an openly transgender model in one of its advertising campaigns. Isis King, who competed on America’s Next Top Model, is featured in the clothing company’s new LGBT Pride Month campaign.

American Apparel collaborated with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation on the new line of T-shirts and tank tops ($24 to $28), which feature the words “Gay O.K.” against a black or white background and “Legalize Gay!” against a neon pink or neon yellow background.

"American Apparel is showing bold leadership by being among just a few companies to include transgender people in its national ads,” GLAAD president Herndon Graddick said in a news release. “Additionally, the company's statement that 'Gay is OK' will reach millions and send an important message in support of equality.”

The campaign will run in print and online advertising across North America, and 15 percent of proceeds from the sale of T-shirts will benefit GLAAD.
