New Democracy is projected to capture the most seats in election in Greece

Antonis Samaras, leader of New Democracy, may be in a position to implement the austerity package, depending on the outcome of the vote.

The centre-right party in Greece is projected to win the most seats, according to BBC tweet.

New Democracy, led by Antonis Samaras, would win 127 seats if an exit poll is correct. The left-wing Syriza, led by Alexis Tsipras, is forecast to win 72 seats.

The exit poll showed that the two parties were running neck-and-neck. According to the BBC, New Democracy's slight edge means it would benefit from a rule that the leading party receives 50 extra seats. There are 300 seats in the chamber.

New Democracy would implement the European Union's austerity package linked to a massive financial bailout. Tsipiras, on the other hand, has promised to renegotiate the package within 10 days.

Tsipiras insists he wants to keep the Euro, but many of his critics claim that his position will ensure that Greece will be forced out of the Eurozone.

The BBC tweet says the Socialists are forecast to win 32 seats.
