Zhambai Trio CD release party at the Waldorf Cabaret

For a rare triple treat of African dance music, head down to the Waldorf Cabaret tomorrow night (June 21) where Zhambai Trio is putting on a CD release party to launch its self-titled debut. The high-spirited acoustic band performs a mix of trad and original Zimbabwean songs on marimba, mbira [thumb-piano], and maracas. All three members will also be playing in the quintet ZimbaMoto, carving the soulful grooves deeper on electric instruments. And special guests Bongo Love, direct from Zimbabwe, bring a unique and tasty fusion of their homeland's mesmeric rhythms and funky Afrobeat. Sonic sunshine is guaranteed.
