A new pop-up shop will be open in Gastown from July 27 to 29. Gather (1 West Cordova Street) will feature 20 local designers, eight creative workshops, and the launch of PopCycle Tour, a moving art installation that features neon bikes and popsicles.

Organized by Ally Day and Cariann Nesler, creators of online marketplace Cargoh, the Gather pop-up shop will feature everything from clothing and wearable accessories, to food, art, and home accessories. Clothing designers include bamboo-based label Little Moso, womenswear brand Elroy Apparel, printed t-shirt brands Identity Tees and Vancouver We Love You, neckwear label Wear Conecktion, and Planet Claire Clothing.

In the accessories department, expect to see leather goods by Love Jules Leather, handmade tote bags from AW by Andrea Wong, graphic belt buckles by Flight Path, jewellery by Henderson Dry Goods and Toodlebunny, handmade leather bags by Jola V. Designs, cool cufflinks by Nostalgic Links, and unique handmade accessories by Visa Mexicana.

Other local contributors to Gather include Bouchée Cheesecakes, Panoramic Roasters, ceramics artist Eikcam, homeware studios Fleet Objects, My Little Lights, and Superfly Lullabies, community photography project This Is East Van, artist Tony Durke, and illustrators Paulina Urreta and Camilo Rolfe of Wild Rabbit.

Workshops on July 28 include a collage workshop conducted by Danielle Krysa, who is also known as “The Jealous Curator”, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.; an Instagram workshop with the photographer behind The Artful Desperado blog from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.; a social media workshop from 1 to 2:30 p.m.; and a hairstyling workshop with Firefly Hair Co. owner Brian Burke from 4 to 6 p.m.

On July 29, learn portrait photography with professional photographer Troy Moth at a workshop from 10 a.m. to 12: p.m.; stitching and hand embroidery from 12:30 to 2 p.m.; how to build a terrarium from 2:30 to 4 p.m.; and a brief history of mixology and the evolution of the cocktail with Boneta barman Simon Kaulback from 4 to 5 p.m. Workshops start at $20, except for the Instagram and social media workshops on July 28 which are free, and attendees are required to reserve a spot online in advance.

Admission to Gather pop-up shop is $3, and a portion of proceeds collected will be donated to A Loving Spoonful.
