eatART at the Vancouver Art Gallery

On Saturday (July 28), if you spot giant mechanical monsters descending upon the Vancouver Art Gallery grounds, don’t worry: we are not being attacked by robotic alien forces. It’s just the third annual eatART: Power the VAG event, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. What you’ll be seeing are Daisy, the world’s largest solar-powered tricycle, and Mondo Spider, a giant, 1,600-pound, eight-legged walking machine. Also on hand will be “watt-riders”, who’ll be madly pedalling generator bikes to produce power for the party (including musical acts DJ Trike and Laser Love Cats Cult) as well as raise funds for eatART, an art research lab whose name stands for “energy awareness through ART”.
