Vancouver police are investigating an alleged cyber crime related to online images of pop star Carly Rae Jepsen.

Const. Lindsey Houghton said police launched an investigation after representatives of Jepsen contacted the department in March.

“That investigation is into the unauthorized use of a computer, theft of telecommunications, and the criminal harassment of Ms. Jepsen,” Houghton told reporters today (July 25).

“It’s in relation to allegations related to online images of Ms. Jepsen and that’s about all we can say.”

A male suspect who does not live in Vancouver has been identified in the case but there has not been an arrest or charges.

Jepsen, known for singing the hit “Call Me Maybe”, is from Mission, B.C. Earlier this week, the 26-year-old took to Twitter to dispel rumours about a sex tape.

A July 23 message on Jepsen’s Twitter account reads: “Crazy morning. Discovered that someone put up a sex tape claiming to be me. Ridiculous. Obviously not me.”

Vancouver police would not provide any further details about the ongoing investigation.
