Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs at Electric Owl

Here’s something that would totally make you a shitload of money: put a giant animal head on your noggin and then trot around the globe playing dance music for the masses. The idea is novel enough that it would probably be only a matter of time before you found yourself on the cover of Rolling Stone. Big props then to Orlando Higginbottom, who, as one might infer from his name, is as English as piss-warm beer and substandard dental care. Working under the banner of Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, the 26-year-old makes forward-thinking dance music, blending trance and jungle with elements of R&B, soul, and pop. But what’s really cool is that he does this live while wearing a dinosaur costume, complete with a giant, scaly head. We know what you’re thinking: that sounds kind of kitschy. But the great thing about TEED is that the dude is seriously goddamn accomplished, to the point where he’s being touted as EDM’s next big thing, and not just because he actually sings on-stage while performing. That makes his Saturday (August 4) gig at Electric Owl one of those events that’s sure to earn you future bragging rights, considering that, thanks to the EDM explosion, Higginbottom will probably be headlining the Pacific Coliseum his next time in town. Not only that, he’ll have a bunch of dudes copping his shtick.

I'd go see him if he brought real dinosaurs on tour with him.
